The Vintage
A cool, wet spring was followed by mild summer months in 2005. This weather pattern allowed the grapes to grow slowly and evenly through the year. The grapes developed marvelous flavors and the tannin in the skins matured nicely as the grapes ripened to perfection in October.
Winemaking
For 15 years Whitehall Lane has used fruit harvested from select vine rows in the Leonardini Vineyard in St. Helena and the Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford for the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon program. Every year this fruit matures beautifully and 2005 was no exception. In 2005, a small Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard block on the eastern hills of Napa Valley was also included. The grapes were harvested between October 7 and October 21 2005. The wine was aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for 25 months.
Tasting Notes
This wine displays the finesse, smoothness and power that has become the signature for Whitehall Lane Cabernet. It's a wine with aromas and flavors of ripe wild blackberries, cassis and an underlying spiciness from French and American oak. This delicious Reserve offering displays great balance, ripeness and offers lingering flavors that lead to a long, silky smooth finish. Enjoy to 2020.
Closure
This wine is sealed with the revolutionary glass closure, Vino-Seal™. This elegant alternative to cork offers an ideal seal that allows the wine to retain its purity of flavor and aroma. Whitehall Lane was the first to use this revolutionary closure beginning with the 2003 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
