Winemaking & Tasting Notes:
As has been a tradition with the Leonardini Cabernet, this wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Picked by hand four vine rows in the Leonardini Vineyard on September 27th, the grapes were very tiny with a low juice-to-skin ratio. That low ratio translated into intensity in color and flavor going into fermentation. The wine was aged for 25 months in 100% French oak cooperage, gracefully synthesizing the heady, concentrated fruit with the toasted vanilla qualities of the barrel. This deep wine has alluring aromas and flavors of black cherry, plum and berry with hints of vanilla. It has a velvety texture, with good body, weight and intensity. The tannin, while soft and lingering, brings structure to the ripe fruit flavors. This classic wine is beautiful now and will continue improving over the next 12 to 15 years.

The Closure:
This is the winery's second vintage to be sealed with the revolutionary glass closure, Vino-Seal. This elegant alternative to cork offers an ideal seal that allows the wine to retain its purity of flavor and aroma. The closure proved very popular and performed beautifully on the 2003 vintage.
