The Vintage:  A mild summer and temperate fall in 2006 followed a very wet and cool spring. With extra moisture, the leaf canopy grew beautifully through the summer delivering ample photosynthesis to the vine for grape cluster development. Extra leaf thinning in the Rutherford and St. Helena vineyards aided the maturation process. The grapes were harvested between October 24th & November 5th when the fruit reached optimum ripeness.

Winemaking:  The Reserve Cabernet program started at Whitehall Lane Winery in 1984. Since that time, fruit primarily from the Rutherford and St. Helena appellations have been designated for the "Reserve” program. This 2006 vintage is a blend of nine distinct barrel lots from five separate vineyards. The wine was aged in 80% French and 20% American oak barrels for 25 months.

Tasting Notes: Elegance and power balance beautifully in this classic offering. The deep, rich color and enticing aromas give way to full-blown fruit flavors that are framed beautifully on the mid-palate by ripe tannins and sweet oak flavors. The flavors of black cherry, black berry and oak linger well beyond the silky smooth finish. Balance and ripeness offer lingering flavors that lead to a long, silky smooth finish. Enjoy this wine through 2020.

The Closure:  This 2006 bottling is the winery’s fourth vintage to be sealed with the revolutionary glass closure, Vino-Seal™. This elegant alternative to cork offers an ideal seal that allows the wine to retain its purity of flavor and aroma. The wines sealed with this ‘glass cork’ continue to age beautifully.

Vintage: The growing conditions of 2013 were beyond ideal, with lots of sunny warm days and cool nights throughout the Spring and Summer. September was also warm, allowing the fruit to fully ripen with outstanding flavors. The grapes were harvested between September 12th and September 23rd when the flavors were at their peak.

Wine: The Leonardini Estate Cabernet Sauvignon comes from handpicked blocks in Whitehall Lane’s Estate Vineyards. This 2013 wine was made from grapes grown in three of the Leonardini Family’s seven Estate Vineyard properties. It included select vineyard rows of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Oak Glen and Millennium MM Vineyards. The Petit Verdot was harvested from our Fawn Park Vineyard in St. Helena. The wine was aged in 80% French and 20% American oak barrels for 22 months.

Notes: This is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has a deep, intense color and a distinct fruit center that begins with black cherry, violet and currant aromas. It is well balanced, elegant and sleek on the palate, delivering very long berry and cherry flavors through to the finish. The underlying tannin structure, complexity and ample fruit guarantees rewards to the patient collector over the next 12 or so years (about 2028.

Vintage: 2014 provided fantastic weather for our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The warm and sunny days lead to cool nights throughout the spring and summer. The early fall months of September and October also brought warm weather, which provide the grapes with just the right amount of warmth to yield outstanding flavors.

Wine: Its name translated from Italian means “left-handed thrower” and is an ode to our proprietor, Thomas Leonardini, Sr. and several other left-handed Leonardinis. Tom was a standout left-handed pitcher in his day with pin-point accuracy while delivering the occasional “chin music”. This Cabernet is also a standout and delivers all-star power and finesse from grapes grown exclusively in Whitehall Lane’s Oak Glen Vineyard in the Oak Knoll District. The wine is definitely a home run!

Notes: 2014 Mancino Lanciatore offers a bold punch of aromatics and flavor. On the nose, there are fresh blackberries, dark chocolate, black currants, and a perfumed blueberry undertone.  The palate offers big, round, and chewy tannins with dark, brooding black fruit, stewed plums, and Agen prunes. Richness and intensity dominate this wine, with toasty vanilla, cola, and mocha notes on the finish. We recommend decanting this wine for a few hours to help deliver a perfectly pitched flavor.
